Jacques-Antoine Granjon

Founder and CEO
vente-privee.com

Jacques-Antoine Granjon was born in Marseille on 9 August 1962.

A born businessman from a family of entrepreneurs, Jacques-Antoine Granjon studied at the prestigious European Business School (EBS) and, in 1985, founded overstock distributer Cofotex S.A. with EBS friend Julien Sorbac.

In 1996, Jacques-Antoine bought and renovated the former print works of national French newspaper Le Monde in La Plaine Saint-Denis (93), just outside of Paris, to set up what would become the venteprivee.com HQ.

In 2000, inspired by new technologies and his extensive experience selling excess stock (today totally more than 25 years), Jacques-Antoine created a concept that would revolutionise the overstock business.

In January 2001, Jacques-Antoine and his 7 business partners launched vente-privee.com in France. A huge success, vente-privee.com quickly established itself as the European leader of online sales events. Growing to more than 1,350 employees and €680 million turnover in 2009 (+ 33% on 2008), the company thrived thanks to its innovative business model, 360° in-house skills integration and core values with a strong people focus. Like its founder, vente-privee.com is a company ‘with a conscience’: responsible growth, training, employability and social responsibility.

In April 2007, Jacques-Antoine was crowned ‘E-commerce Man of the Year’ by a panel of internet users at the E-commerce Magazine awards. In the same year, he was also recognised as the most important distance seller of the last 50 years, at the ‘Favor’i’ award ceremony celebrating the 50th birthday of FEVAD (French E-commerce and Distance Sales Federation). In 2008, Jacques-Antoine was elected ‘Businessman of the Year’ at the BFM Awards, before collecting, in 2009, the European prize for ‘Chief Marketing Office of the year’, sponsored by Booz & Company.
